About Our Firm

20+ Years of Bankruptcy Experience

The Gavel is a full-service bankruptcy law firm serving both individuals and businesses in Phoenix and surrounding areas. Led by Attorney Amy Wilkins, we provide services backed by decades of combined legal experience.

Our goal at The Gavel is to provide what most law firms don’t: personal attention and genuine care. We treat each client with the understanding that our assistance can make an enormous difference in their lives, as well as in the lives of their loved ones. Above all else, we prioritize excellence in every facet of our services.

Providing the Level of Care You Deserve

If you are struggling to overcome severe financial adversity, you need a team of professionals with more than just qualifications. You need attorneys who are personally committed to your legal and financial success. We invest the time it takes to understand each client’s financial circumstances because this understanding is what allows us to develop an effective legal strategy.

Many people attempt to file bankruptcy alone, but this is a serious mistake. Bankruptcy can be an incredibly complex process, especially if you are filing as a business entity. Debtors who file pro se (i.e. without a lawyer) end up losing much more than they would have if they had paid an attorney for qualified support. While the bankruptcy judge or trustee will never mislead you, they cannot advise you or recommend what they believe is right for your situation. Because we know how easily debtors can file an unsuccessful case, we have committed ourselves to helping as many individuals and businesses obtain financial freedom through this powerful legal procedure.

The Gavel is a bankruptcy law firm that assists both individuals and businesses in Phoenix and surrounding areas. Both of our attorneys have decades of legal experience and a commitment to providing excellent service for every client. When you retain our services, you will notice a stark difference between The Gavel and large bankruptcy firms. Here, we value each client as a human being with needs and ambitions. Our attorneys will personally handle every element of your case, rather than handing it off to a paralegal or other assistant. Learn more about why our team is uniquely qualified to help you overcome your legal and financial matters.

Cases We Handle

At the beginning of your case, we will evaluate your financial situation and determine which type of debt-relief solution will be most effective.

We can guide you through any of the following types of cases:

  • Chapter 7—liquidation bankruptcy, where the trustee sells nonexempt assets to repay creditors, and the court discharges remaining unsecured debt
  • Chapter 13—debt reorganization, where the filer proposes a 3-5-year repayment plan, followed by a debt discharge
  • Chapter 11—debt reorganization, generally for businesses that want to reduce debt without dissolving their companies
  • Chapter 11, Subchapter V—a new form of Chapter 11 debt reorganization exclusively for small businesses, offering several benefits and cost-effective procedures

We can also help you prevent foreclosure and end creditor harassment through a broad variety of methods.
